Many people today are living to 100 or older. The long-held notion of stopping work altogether and fully retiring at 65 is no longer a sustainable option for many, as it now leaves us with decades of time to fill, without earned income and potentially without a purpose in life. For people of all ages, it is vital that we foster age-friendly work environments and provide access to meaningful employment, self-employment and other ways to earn income.
