This Online Privacy Statement (“Statement”) applies to the websites of The Transamerica Institute, including its operating division the Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies (collectively, “We” or “Us”).  This Statement does not apply to information collected or received through other means, to information collected by any third party, including websites or applications we may link to, or the collection, use and sharing of deidentified or anonymous data.

We understand that the privacy and security of your information is important to you. This Statement describes how we collect, use and share your personal information.

From time to time, we may clarify, revise, or update this Statement. This may include making changes to the way we collect, use or share information. If we make any changes to this Statement, we will revise the effective date at the top of the Statement. Changes to this Statement will be effective once they are posted.

What Information We Collect and from Whom

From You:

We collect information that you provide to us through the “Contact Us” feature or when you sign up for our emails. This may include your name, email address, phone number, organization, and any other information you provide in the message section or otherwise email to us.


We may collect information automatically using data collection technology, such as cookies, web beacons, pixel tags or other similar current and future technologies as they develop (the “Data Technology”). We may have access to information automatically collected by Data Technologies across our websites and third-party websites.

When you use mobile devices to access our websites, we may receive information about your location and your mobile device. This may include a unique identifier for your device, device settings, analytical information about how you use your mobile device and other information that may be stored on or accessed through your mobile device. In some cases, we may receive information from mobile applications not operated by us or from other devices connected to your mobile device.

Information collected automatically, including through Data Technologies, may include: your IP address and associated activity tracking; the type of browser and operating system you use; the date and time you access our websites; the address of websites you visit prior to or after visiting our websites; the number of times you access our websites; the pages viewed and features you access during your visit to our websites; responses to advertisements and promotions on our websites, other websites, and mobile applications; Transamerica emails you open and links you click within those emails; data regarding your internet service provider or mobile carrier geolocation data (to the extent provided by you or your device); inferences which we may gather relating to your preferences, attitudes, characteristics, or behaviors; and the type of handheld or mobile device that you use.

How We Use the Information We Collect

We may use information we collect to operate our business, including the following:

  • to deliver content and communications that you request or that we think may interest you, such as our health care guides, workplace wellness studies, consumer research, cookbooks, etc.;

  • to protect our rights and the rights of others; and/or

What Information We Disclose and To Whom We Disclose It

We may disclose your personal information to persons or companies that perform services for us, such as website operations, development, hosting, or design services, data analytics, research or surveys, content distribution, etc.  We may also disclose personal information about you to law enforcement, government officials, regulators, auditors, professional advisors, or third parties as required or permitted by law, to protect our rights and the rights of others, or in our discretion to prevent fraud, harm, or loss to you, ourselves, or others.

Children’s Privacy Rights

Our Online Services are not directed to children under the age of 13.


We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures designed to safeguard your information against loss, theft, unauthorized use, disclosure, or modification. Of course, despite these measures, no network or system is entirely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of networks and systems we operate or that are operated on our behalf.
