Striking Similarities and Disconcerting Disconnects: Employers, Workers, and Retirement Security (Survey Report)
Today, people have the potential to live longer than any other time in history. Many workers now want and need to extend their working lives to financially prepare for longer retirements – and they need more support from their employers.
Striking Similarities and Disconcerting Disconnects: Employers, Workers, and Retirement Security is a research report that illustrates ways in which employers and workers are in sync, while also revealing major disconnects. As part of its 18th Annual Retirement Survey, Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies interviewed more than 1,800 employers of for-profit companies with five or more employees to gain insights into how they are helping their employees prepare for retirement. The survey findings are presented in aggregate and by company size, including small (5 to 99 employees), medium companies (100 to 499 employees), and large companies (500+ employees). The report also provides context by comparing the employer survey findings to TCRS’ survey of more than 6,300 workers.
